Job Overview
The Head of System Dynamics (m/f/d) provides expert leadership in utilizing simulation techniques to model and analyze turbine, generator, power unit, plant, and electric grid systems accurately. This role emphasizes meeting rigorous safety standards in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system dynamics for all company products. Additionally, you'll stay updated on scientific advancements, drive research activities, and lead a team of skilled professionals while contributing to the R&D department's strategic plans.

Your tasks

• Lead the Central Technology department for dynamic behavior in hydropower plants.
• Lead the development and utilization of simulation techniques to accurately model and analyze turbine, generator, power unit, plant, and electric grid systems.
• Develop scientific skills, ensuring adherence to quality assurance measures in planning and engineering for all OtO and OtC projects.
• Specify and develop hydro-specific calculation methods and result documentation guidelines for dynamic calculation disciplines worldwide, ensuring that calculations and verifications meet the state of the art in science, technology, and legal requirements.
• Audit calculation departments and drive the use of approved calculation programs globally.
• Ensure products meet safety standards in both mechanical and electrical system dynamics.
• Stay updated on scientific advancements and industry trends related to system dynamics.
• Update internal processes and guidelines based on the latest industry knowledge.
• Drive research activities to advance the company's understanding of system dynamics.
• Meticulously document know-how and know-why related to system dynamics in guidelines.
• Lead and develop a team, fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented environment, assigned to the position and contributing to Central Technology leadership.
• Contribute to long-term strategic plans for the R&D department.

Your profile

• Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Ph.D preferred, or a related field focusing on system dynamics.
• Proven track record in designing, simulating, and optimizing complex mechanical and electrical systems, preferably in the power generation or energy sector.
• In-depth knowledge of simulation tools, software, and methodologies for modeling system dynamics.
• Strong understanding of safety and design standards relevant to mechanical and electrical systems.
• Excellent analytical skills to interpret complex data and derive actionable insights.
• Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
• Effective communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Prior experience in leading research initiatives and driving innovation is a plus.
